Do you know who J.C. Correa is? If you’re a baseball fan, the familiar last name will catch your attention. J.C. is the younger brother of the Twins’ shortstop Carlos Correa. While he may not be as well known as his brother yet, J.C. is ready to make a name for himself in the sport. And the Houston Astros believe he’s got what it takes to make it big.

At just 24 years old, J.C. has already displayed impressive skills at the minor league level. In the 2021 season, he played for the High-A Asheville and put up impressive stats of .309/.364/.446 with eight home runs and 64 RBIs in 404 at-bats, mostly while playing as a catcher.

But J.C.’s journey was not as smooth or as rapid as his brother’s. He played four years at Lamar University and went undrafted in 2019. He was then signed as an undrafted free agent by the Astros in 2020, but his debut season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, J.C. is more determined than ever to succeed. He’s been putting in extra work to develop his catching skills and increase his versatility on the field. And despite not being on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 Astros prospects list, the team believes J.C. has the potential to be a big-league player in the future.

As for J.C.’s famous brother Carlos, he’s been a source of advice and encouragement for J.C. Carlos reminds him to stay focused and confident, and to play without being nervous or anxious.

J.C. Correa is a name to watch out for in the world of baseball. With his hard work, determination, and the support of his team and his family, he may just carve out his own place in the history of the sport.
