Are you ready for some predictions that are practically impossible to get right? Look no further than the performance of bullpens in the upcoming MLB season. It’s a tricky game trying to predict which relief pitchers will perform well and which ones will falter. But here we are, attempting to rank the top 10 bullpens in MLB for 2023.
At the top of our list are the Houston Astros, and after their impressive bullpen ERA, strikeout rate, and left-on-base percentage in 2022, why wouldn’t they be? They’ve got a great lineup of arms and they’re bringing everybody back for 2023. The San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves are also looking strong, with key acquisitions and experienced options.
The Cleveland Guardians, Seattle Mariners, and Los Angeles Dodgers are also expected to have strong bullpens, with young pitchers, veterans, and unexpected sources of value contributing to their success. And let’s not forget about the Philadelphia Phillies and the perennially included Tampa Bay Rays, who always manage to surprise with their cast of characters that looks completely different by season’s end.
So while predicting the performance of bullpens may be a frustrating and self-defeating exercise, it’s still important to recognize the importance of these key players in the game. And who knows, maybe our predictions will be spot on this year. Or maybe we would have better luck predicting the weather in Gary, Indiana on November 28, 2049, the sex of Prince Louis of Wales’ first-born child, the winner of the 2028 Summer Olympics gold medal in badminton, or the price of Bitcoin as of 3:38 p.m. ET tomorrow.
