It’s time for some Friday night lights, baseball edition! Tonight at 7:10 PM CST, the Houston Astros will take on the Detroit Tigers in the first game of a three-game series. Are you excited? Because we certainly are.

Let’s start with a quick recap of their last encounter where Houston swept the series, outscoring Detroit 15-4. Cristian Javier was the star of the show after striking out eight and walking none in six shutout innings during the series capper.

Houston is coming off a four-game split against the Chicago White Sox, and although they’ve been struggling with their average, there are some heat-seekers to look out for: Yordan Alvarez has been on fire with a homer and five RBI, while Kyle Tucker has already bagged four RBI and a stolen base.

On the other hand, the Tigers are yet to taste their first win of the season after a series in which they were outscored 21-3 by the Tampa Bay Rays. Nevertheless, it’s still early in the season, and they will undoubtedly come out fighting tonight.

The all-time series between these two teams has been closely contested, with Houston leading at 43-to-33, but the Tigers will be looking to change that balance tonight.

With Hunter Brown taking on Matthew Boyd in the first game, we’re in for an exciting matchup. Other notable starting pitchers include Framber Valdez and Eduardo Rodriguez for the Astros, and Matt Manning and Cristian Javier for the Tigers.

We cannot forget about the Astros’ minor league teams, with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys already looking promising with a 2-1 record, along with other teams set to begin their season very soon.

So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy Friday night lights, baseball-style. Let’s see how this game and series unfold!
